A FEW THINGS ABOUT THE ARTIST

1. What do you do when you’re not making art? (Day job etc...).

I teach classes at Washington Studio School in perceptual drawing + painting and collage, as well as conduct private art classes to adults and young people. I've also managed to be a painter without a car for twelve years.

2. Why do you make art?

It wanted to come out and had more truth in it for me than other pursuits.

3. What inspires you?

Memory, travel, sunsets, nocturnal light, urban environments, blank exterior walls, wanderlust, historical New York City.

4. What/who are your influences?

Modernist visual art, Cubist art, Perceptual Joy, jazz & progressive rock.

5. If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be?

Philip Guston.
